Blanket Scarf

Remember a few weeks back when I wrote this post about one of the biggest trends of the season? Blanket scarves are all the rage, yet I couldn't seem to get my hands on one no matter how hard I shopped! Imagine my surprise when my bestie blessed me with this beautiful grey masterpiece!  It was a Christmas miracle, for real!  I am in love with a blanket scarf, y'all.  It is so warm and I can just wind it around my neck to make anything, and I mean anything, look super chic and relevant.

Just a little fashion food for thought: If for some reason you don't have leopard heels, or you are scared to try them and don't want to fork over $100, consider these for less than $9.  You heard me!  These babies are only $8.33!  Not to high, not to low, and not too light in color, these are the perfect shoes to take the plunge.  Toe too pointy?  Try the same shoe in a rounded toe for $13.86.

Last Minute

Merry Christmas Eve, friends!  I've still got some shopping to do, so I'll be rushing around town trying to finish up my holiday obligations.  I hope you have a wonderful couple of days planned and get everything your little hearts desire.  I'm thankful to be able to spend mine with my mom and a house full of four-legged children.

Double Dutch

I'm often quite aimless in the morning when I am getting dressed for work and this day was no exception.  I put several items together and finally settled on this look that reminds me of a Ralph Lauren Christmas campaign.  I've always loved the look of doubling up button downs, but I've never really done it because I felt a bit frumpy.  The great thing about these J.Crew Perfect Shirts is that they are pretty thin and are generally issued in complimentary prints.  As you saw here, I'm into pairing leopard with a tartan plaid, and when paired with a skinny pant, it tones everything down a bit.

Jacket: Pendleton, thrifted, love this one
Shirts: J.Crew Perfect Shirt in Tartan and Leopard
Belt: Hermes
Bag: Louis Vuitton
Necklaces: F21, J.Crew, West Avenue
Bracelets: J.Crew Classic Pave Link, F21, vintage Hermes

Blast from the Past

We've all had those encounters where we see someone from our past unexpectedly.  It makes your heart skip a beat for a second and then a very strange feeling comes over you.   Whether it's an enemy, an old friend, or an ex, you are never quite prepared for it.  That happened to me yesterday evening and it was completely unexpected.  I'm just glad that the I could look within myself and say that I am proud of who I am now, proud of where I came from, and proud that I don't have to look back.  I was also proud that I stopped by home before I went out in order to freshen up and looked pretty dang hot ;)

Top: F21, last seen here, similar option here
Belt: Anne Klein, similar
Necklace: West Avenue Monogram Necklace via Max and Chloe

I got a gold chain

A literal "Oh my God" flew right out of my mouth when I saw this Chanel belt in the window of a vintage store in Columbus, Ohio last Thanksgiving.  Instead of wearing it as a belt, I like to thug it out as a gold chain instead.  As if that's not enough, this fabulous leather skirt was thrifted, too.  Boom.

I get a lot of questions pertaining to where and how I find my vintage goodies, so I thought I would share my two secrets about the "Where" aspect of thrifting/vintage shopping :

1. Do your research - thrift in' ain't easy, y'all.  It's hard work and you need to take the time to scope out several places before you move on to secret number two.  I have been to every Goodwill and Salvation Army from here to the Mississippi so I know what type of goods are placed in each, what their price points are, and even when they get shipments and stock the store.  Psycho? Yes.  Do I find the good shit, though? Yes.  I have a store that I always find great clothing in, one for furniture, and another for household goods.  For consignment stores, I subscribe to the same model.

2.  If you are looking for vintage goods, thrift or consign in older neighborhoods - this is a big one for me.  I am never looking for newer items, so if a thrift store is full of some teenagers F21 castaways from 2007, I'm out the door.  I want granny's old dresses, papaw's old belts, and the beautiful furniture they used to sit on whilst having afternoon cocktails Mad Men style.

Hope this helps in the treasure hunt!!

Thrift of the Week : Three Way

In searching for odds and ends for the bedroom I was, of course, stopping by every thrift store from here to Oklahoma.  Not to ignore the treasures that may be buried in the dress aisle, I sniffed out this little beauty for $3.99.  The color is great and the cowl neck allows me to wear it three ways: asymmetric, off shoulder, and with a cowl collar.  How great is that?

Wedges: Steve Madden
Clutch: Target
Glasses: Ann Taylor
