Welcome to Workday.Weekend, my little slice of sanity! I hope you'll stay awhile, interact, leave comments and suggestions. Workday.Weekend actually started under a different pseudonym in, what seems, a completely different life. I did all the things I was supposed to do after college: got a job, got a house, got married. But after awhile, I learned that I wasn't meant for that cookie cutter life and after a hectic couple of years, both Workday.Weekend and I found ourselves and began a reinvention. This little blog is both my therapist and sometimes my best friend. It forces me to see inside myself and realize who I am and what I want in life. Someone once told me that if you write it down, it will come true and WW is 100% my personal reflection of those affirmations.
So, what's in a name, y'all? Workday.Weekend is a direct representation of a couple different things to me. First and most obviously is my style - I dress for work, for play, and everthing in between. I never wear something on the weekend that I couldn't wear to work, and vice versa. I'm very lucky to set my own schedule and to work in a pretty open environment from a fashion sense, so it's important to me that my style is versatile. My second passion is design, which I've displayed bit by bit on the blog as time has passed. I have a normal office job during the week, but on the weekend and most week nights, my fiance' and I have a thriving home design and renovation business. We buy homes that have been neglected and forgotten and bring new life to them so that someone falls in love all over again. It's truly rewarding and wonderful.
My fiance', Erik, and I live in the Lakewood area of Dallas, Texas with our two puppy babies, Famous (a long-haired dachsund) and Abby (a yellow lab). We both went to Texas A&M University and are both mortgage bankers. We have a penchant for sauteed scallops and The First 48 and are in bed most nights by 8:30. Life simply couldn' be better.
Workday.Weekend is what one of my closest friends describes as my "zen". It's a place where I can say what I want, display what I want, and feel a sense of calm and happiness every time I look at it. Although it started as White Owl Drive, a blog about my experiences as a young professional and first time home owner, Workday.Weekend has evolved into a portfolio of sorts about fashion and design. From the time I was a little girl, I've always had a passion for clothing and decor and after a few significant life changes, I felt like I needed to go back to the basics, both in life, and on the blog. I started with a clean slate and have never been happier with myself and my life.
A southern girl through and through, I was raised in a tiny town in North Carolina, and via Chicago, made it to Dallas. "I wasn't born here, but I got here as quick as I could" is something I've heard a million times and saying I can certainly relate to. I couldn't imagine a better place to build a life and I am so thankful to live in such a beautiful place. I graduated from Texas A&M University with degrees in political science and history with an intention on studying law, but have been a mortgage banker for nearly 7 years.
I can't describe my style in one word but it's a mish-mash of preppy, trendy, and classic. I love to experiment with new trends, but I know the classic styles that work for my body. I am lucky enough to work in a non-restrictive work environment, so I can pretty much wear whatever I want. I love nothing more than to see the utter shock on people's faces when I come to the office in floral pants, or show up to a meeting with a neon green blouse. Those are the moments I live for!
I can't thank you enough for stopping by my little slice of sanity. I'm an open book, so if you have any questions or would like styling advice, ask away! I love helping people out with their wardrobe and home design dilemmas.
xoxo,
sarah
