MIA

So, I've been majorly MIA and suck at life and blogging.  I'm renovating two houses, am busier than ever at work, and have gone without hot water for a solid week.  Needless to say, this has all culminated in the perfect storm of shitty blogging conditions.  I managed to eek out a few photos today after an emergency trip to J.Crew last week.  I hadn't been shopping in weeks and felt that I should reward myself with a little present for my troubles.  I got this super adorable tweed- front tee and have about a thousand outfits ideas for it.

Miss y'all!!  Thanks for hanging in there with me! I can't wait til things calm down and are back to normal.

Black Watch

I found this Black Watch plaid jacket on one of my many Target expeditions a few months back.  I had been eyeing one from J.Crew, but because of the ratio of #'s of wear vs. price, it didn't really make sense.  When I love a piece, but it's pattern or print is pretty distinct, it's not something that I will choose to wear very often, simply because it's too distinct.  At $25, this blazer was at a great price point for me, plus the details were an added bonus.  The pop of tangerine under the lapel and the seersucker print cuff lining sold me immediately.  It's wool and warm, which I appreciate in the arctic temperatures we are having here in Dallas.  This particular plaid is rather versatile since it has both navy and black, so I can play off either color.  I'm having a love affair with navy and black right now, and can't believe that I didn't gravitate towards it earlier.  Those age old "rules" of fashion, i.e. white after Labor Day, patent leather in the summertime, and black and navy is a no-no just don't apply to me anymore and I am so glad they don't!

Christmas Break (literally)

Hi friends!  Happy New Years Eve!  I'm sorry for being MIA the past week or so, but my camera lens kicked the bucket.  Because of the holiday, my lens is out of stock everywhere and I've been waiting for it to become available again.  Trust me, though, y'all haven't missed a damn thing unless you are interested in seeing me in my pajamas with dirty hair for a week straight!  I did manage to get some photos with my zoom lens on the one day I ventured out of the house.  Things will be back to normal soon!

Have a safe and fun NYE!

Last Minute

Merry Christmas Eve, friends!  I've still got some shopping to do, so I'll be rushing around town trying to finish up my holiday obligations.  I hope you have a wonderful couple of days planned and get everything your little hearts desire.  I'm thankful to be able to spend mine with my mom and a house full of four-legged children.

Perfect Print

I'm sitting here in bed underneath piles of blankets, chicly dressed in not only sweatpants but also a sweatshirt, drinking coffee.  Why?  Because the temperature dropped 50 degrees in the past 12 hours and I just can't manage to go anywhere besides the kitchen and back.

So, I am going back a couple weeks on my looks to find something to warm me up!  I absolutely had to have this dressed when I saw it in F21 about a month ago.  Not only was it $29.99, but it reminded me of all the gorgeous Mary Katrantzou prints that showed up earlier this year.  Since I wasn't about to throw down the Visa for one of those, I was thrilled to find this great alternative.  I was lucky enough to be invited to Fashion Group International of Dallas Night of the Stars honoring the beautiful and talented Lela Rose, and this is what I wore.

Texture upon texture

I mentioned yesterday that I was racing around town all weekend trying to find a dress for my company Christmas party and, like a huge dingbat, this is what I decided to wear.  Cute? Um, duh.  Warm? Perfect amount of layers.  Practical? B*tch, please!  Who wears three shirts, knee high boots, and the skinniest skinny jeans with zero stretch ever placed on planet earth to the mall while speed shopping for a dress in an hour and a half timeframe?  THIS GIRL.   It took way longer to get undressed and redressed than it did to try on the 15 or so dresses that caught my eye.  Silly little blonde girl...

Anyways, I've been loving the look of the jackets that are out with canvas bodies and leather sleeves.  Instead of running out and buying one, I decided to create the illusion of one with a vest and faux leather jacket.  I think it actually works!

Vest: J.Crew (old) very similar for $18.97!
Jacket: Sammy Dress, awesome alternative here for $34
T-Shirt: H&M, similar
Clutch: Kate Spade Harrison Street Travel Wallet - ostrich option here
Bracelets: J.Crew Classic Pave' Link, Kate Spade - look at this one!!  Love it!, Banana Republic (in store only)

Cherry Dip

My company Christmas party was this past weekend, so I was, of course, running around like a mad person trying to find something to wear.  I absolutely had nothing in my closet... yeah right.  You know I can't step foot in the mall without visiting my main man Billy (my personal shopper) at J.Crew. Not only did they have a great sale, but they had several items that I have been loving from afar marked all the way down to $19.99!  Plus 30% that!  In my mind, this stuff was free so I took full advantage.

I absolutely adore this color blocked oxford and can picture it with so many different things.  I ran around in it on Sunday while grocery shopping at Trader Joe's.  I'm sure you cool, hip people from other parts of the country are already over TJ's, but we just got one here in Dallas and I can't get enough!  $2.99 wine that's actually good.  C'mon now!
