Quick Work Look

I was in a hurry to get to the office a few days back, so I didn't have much time to primp.  I threw my hair up in a pony and put together this quick outfit for an early business meeting.  Happy Friday!!

Jacket: The Limited, old but similar
Pants: Old Navy, similar at Factory for $29.99!
Heels: Banana Republic Mad Men Collection, identical version from BR

sarah

  4. Hi Sarah! I found your fashion blog via pinterest a few days ago and I've been "hooked" ever since :). I'm a wife and a mom of two wonderful boys (three years old and an almost one year old). Needless to say, I haven't given much attention to myself recently. I was a personal fitness trainer before I started having babies but have only graced the YMCA with my presence two times in the past year! As of today my one year old is weaned and isn't taking as many naps each day so I have no excuse not to get back into a steady routine. Anyway, I digress....... I just wanted to tell you how inspired I've been looking at your blog. Your style is super adorable! Unfortunately, I've never been too good at "putting things together." I would never think to pair the things and colors together that you do, but it looks brilliant! I need to see something that I like and then I can "try" to copy it :). I've gotten some great ideas and am itching to get shopping. If you have any advise for me on putting myself back together I would welcome it. Sometimes I just get so overwhelmed with shopping - not knowing what to put together. I'd be interested in how you "think" - how you shop. Is there a formula for it??!! Wish you were in Birmingham, AL because I would love to go shopping with you!! ;) All the best, Holly

    1. Hey Holly! At least you have the baby excuse! I need to get some inspo for getting back in the gym. I've obviously been slacking on blogging and that's not the only thing that has taken a back seat to work and life. I'm just so much busier now and have two home renovations going simultaneously. I also have an hour commute to my office, so it's so hard to make the time to work it. I can definitely tell in the way that my clothes fit :/ Anyways, I'm so happy to have inspired you, even if it is to shop ;) I think of it this way: if I have a good time getting dressed and feel good about myself when I leave the house, no matter how shitty my day ends up, at least I can say that it started off on a positive note. As far as how I think when I shop - I spend a lot of time at work, so anything that I buy needs to go both ways - casual and business - in order for me to get the most wear out it. Most things I look for have a classic shape and I will throw a fun item in here and there. I hardly ever buy anything full price, I have to really, really want something to do that. Taking photos of myself, editing them, and looking at them over and over in different positions really shows me what looks best on my body. Sometimes I buy things and think they look great until I see a photo. Proportions are so important for me because I am tiny on top, and not so tiny on the bottom. I make sure to spend more on items that I know I can wear a lot in different ways, and less on ones that I love but know can only be worn a few times. A perfect example is the blazer that I posted from Target. J.Crew had two exactly like them but at 7 times the cost, I couldn't legitimize buying them, even at better quality and materials. Finally, I'm a big thrift shopper and try and find great items there. Okay, I'm rambling and probably made zero sense. Thanks for your sweet note!!

  10. Loving your hair in a pony, Sarah! I too have been rockin ponies lately at work and I never realized that when my hair curls and in a pony it looks totally cute yet polished...love the popover in this outfit! You are responsible for turning me on to popovers last year with the Polly popover and now I don't know how I lived without them for so long! So thanks for that. You look fab as usual...

    1. How did we ever live without popovers, seriously? They go with everything and are a great makeshift swimsuit cover-up. Love it!

    1. Thanks, Andrea! I'm not a big ponytail chick when I'm not at the gym, but it seemed appropriate with the outfit for some reason. Thanks for stopping by :)
