Creekside

Had so much fun with my "photographer" over the weekend!  I usually take all my photos with a tripod and, honestly, I haven't figured out all the tricks of the trade.  I loved these photos because of the details and because Famous was in them :)  I will also be blunt and say that I loved my outfit.  Enjoy the rest of your week!

Oscar Style

I won't bore you with a play by play of last night's hits and misses because, in my opinion, it was exactly that: boring.  I was totally underwhelmed by everything but Angie's leg and even that got old pretty quick.  There were a couple brief moments on the red carpet thanks to Jessica Chastain, Gwennie, and Viola Davis.  Hell, if Clooney wouldn't have been there, I bet I would have fallen asleep a lot sooner than I did.

BEST

Jessica Chastain in McQueen

The gold thread in this dress is 24k!  Best dressed by a long shot for me.
Gweneth Paltrow in Tom Ford

Only Gwennie can pull head to toe white and a ponytail off!  Love that she dressed for fashion's sake and loved the cape.
Viola Davis in custom Vera Wang

Viola was a definite standout in a sea of earthy tones.  The jade color looks amazing against her beautiful skin.

WORST
Melissa McCarthy in Marina Rinaldi

This is a perfect example of how not to dress when you have curves.  She is so pretty and this is just disappointing.  She is not properly supported and is hidden beneath all that fabric.  Could no one steam her dress?  Please fire your stylist immediately.

Elaine Taylor in ???

Okay, just because you are a woman of a certain age does not mean that you can throw your Spanx (or your mirror) away! Could she not get them on because her left wrist is sprained?  I don't know.  What I do know if that this is offensive and no one needs to wear satin in this color other than Gisele.

Shailene Woodley in Valentino Haute Couture

She consistantly dresses too old for her cute little self.  Have fun!  You don't have to borrow from Dame Judy Dench's closet for Hollywood to take you seriously.  P.S. Gweneth would have killed it in this.

COUPLES

Brad and Angie in Atelier Versace

I swear I thought she was going to pee on Brad Pitt... and on the stage when she presented.  You're beautiful, we get it.  The whole act was desperate IMO.

George Clooney in Armani and Stacey Keilber in Marchesa

Stacy looked beautiful in this color and her makeup and hair were flawless. She kind of looks like she has a boner with that rosette sticking out, but I would too if I was in her position!

All the morning shows seemed to have the same opinion that I did.  There were sooooooo many great dresses at the shows that I fully expected them to show up on the red carpet.  What did you think?  Who were your favorites?

Celine vs. JCrew

This is my brain:

This is my brain on drugs:

As much as I covet and obsess over the Celine, I've finally cut the cord.  Tillary will be mine in 5 to 7 business days!  YAY!

Captain, My Captain

Today was such a gorgeous day and I was able to hit downtown to take some photos.  McKinney has a really old square and there are beautiful relics tucked away in alleyways and corners.  The wall where I took these photos is a huge faded advertisement for an hardware store.  The colors are incredible.  It's also right across from the police department and I was just waiting for one of the guys to come over and scold me.  If you've never been, take the time to spend a half day here.  There are several top notch antique shops, boutiques, and great restaurants.

Weekend: Close to the Vest

I was beyond stoked when I came across two key pieces I've been wanting to add to my closet: a cargo vest and new boyfriend jeans.  This vest from Old Navy came out last spring and catapulted to stardom, but by the time I stumbled across it here, here, and here, it was long gone.  I've scoured eBay and the kids section of every Gap/Banana/Old Navy retail and factory store for months hoping I'd get lucky.  Just as I had finally given up the fight, I squealed in the middle of a very crowded J Crew Factory this morning.

I also found a pair of boyfriend jeans that will work for me. I've been trying to find the perfect pair but the ones that I've tried (feels like a hundred) including my beloved Current Elliot and J Brand, were just too big in the legs.  I decided on these because they were a great price, $39, a lighter wash, and a perfect fit even though it pained me to buy them three sizes too big.  I'm thinking I might take a pumice stone and rough them up a bit.  Has anyone done that to give their jeans a more worn look?  Would love to hear your experience.  I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!  I'm ready for spring!  As if you can't tell...

Workday: Pink & Red

Completely in love with the pink and red monochromatic trend happening.  I translated it to workday wear with this amazing silk shirt and ankle trousers from Ann Taylor.  I did get some comments from my colleagues including "we see you!" and "you are bright today!" both of which I took as compliments.  I always get a kick out of taking fashion risks in an otherwise conservative workplace.  Thankfully, it's also rather casual and I can get away with nearly anything I want.

And here is my interpretation :)

Pants & Blouse: Ann Taylor (neither online, but both in stores)
Jacket: trixxi (similar here)
Belt: The Limited (similar here)
Shoes: Vince Camuto (here)
Clutch: American Apparel, in stone (here)
Necklace & Bracelet: Ann Taylor (in stores still, but not online)
Left Hand Bracelet: David Yurman

I literally want to wear this blouse with everything I own, so I apologize ahead of time if you are forced to look at it a thousand times in the near future.  Also, I think this is my first post with straight hair, LOL.

Happy Friday loves!
