a soft place to fall...

It's been a great holiday, but I am ready to go home.  After five days out of town, cold wet weather, and no puppies, I'm definitely missing Dallas.  As I'm sitting in the airport, all I can think of is the comfort of my own bed.  Loving this bedroom with original artwork by Jen Ramos of Made By Girl, a wonderful style blog that has been on my role since I learned what a blog even was.  She is so super talented and I am definitely looking forward to placing some of her pieces in my space.

How was your holiday?

In Flight

I am of the opinion that when traveling to visit someone you should never sacrifice style for comfort, especially when you can have both!  A family member or friend who hasn't seen you in awhile isn't going to be impressed when you step off the plane wearing a match-matchy tracksuit a la Paris Hilton 2001.  Please don't.

For me, layers are best because I am generally rushing to make a flight and am dragging way too much luggage behind me.  A flat or wedge accommodates the typical last minute sprint to the gate, and jeggings allow me to curl up in my seat.

Sweater: H&M
Blouse: Zara
Jeggings: Thrifted!
Boots: Zara
Bag: Chanel
Watch: Citizen Eco Drive
Bracelet: Hermes (an early Xmas gift, thank you BB!)

I'm headed to Columbus for the holidays and am looking forward to spending time with family.  Where will you be?

Trending: Houndstooth

Houndstooth is all over everything from street style to interior design.  I've got a cropped jacket from F21 that I purchased a few years ago but never got the nerve to wear.  I'm thinking with all this gorgeous inspiration maybe I should give her a whirl.  What do you think? Love it or hate it?

Perfect Gift Idea

Just came across these Lulu Frost Code Rings and they are an amazing gift idea for any occasion.  Receiving a few of these stacked with a special date would be about the sweetest thing I could think of.

Winter Whites

The couple weeks leading up to Christmas are pretty manic for me in terms of wrapping up business and finishing my holiday shopping. These rooms from McGill Design Group are stylish, simple, and just what I would love to come home to after a challenging day.  Instead of being cold or stark, the use of white is so calming to me.  The elements of color are minimalistic and muted but make such a huge impact on every single room.

The antlers add the perfect amount of whimsy and the orange painting is gorgeous.

The dark ceiling makes this room really elegant.

Amazing wall color...

The violet ikat against that gorgeous creamy sofa is to die for!

That chandelier is sick...

Love, love!

.
The slightly country feeling of this kitchen is so inviting.

The console table and bench on the left are so super chic.

Is this bathroom doesn't make you happy, I don't know what does!?!?

To die for, seriously....The height of the moulding mixed with the wallpaper and light looks so fresh.

I love that fridge!

I've got the blues...

So excited to finally get my hands on Ann Taylor's Lina Calf Hair Platform Wedges.  I had originally spotted them back in October but the $248 price tag was a little steep for me.  I walked in yesterday to return on of my favorite shirts that had basically fallen apart and the last pair was staring at me from a ledge in the sale section.  They were marked down to $139.99, I took advantage of the 50% off storewide sale, and because they were the last pair the manager gave me an additional 20% off.  They were basically free and I have some serious plans for them ;) The cobalt color is so vivd they seem like they would glow in the dark!

What are you coveting this season?

Enjoy your Friday!

Fur Real

I wasn't sure about the whole fur vest trend, so I purchased mine from the little girls section at Target.  Faux fur has always looked super cheap and a little mangy, so I was only willing to risk $30 or so.  I bought it about four weeks ago and I have literally worn it about every other day.  I absolutely love it and feel like it makes any outfit look chic and stylish.  I love how every one of these looks above is styled, but especially love Rachel Roy's look.  The contrast between the pastels and the dark fur against her skin is really great.

Are you into the faux fur trend?

Weekend

agadabout:

EXPRESSION | Bundle of joy

I've had a crazy week at work and the weekend is going to be just as busy.  Tons of shopping to do, plus holiday party madness begins tonight.  What to wear?  I'll be bundled up in the cold and rain, thanks to the unpredictable Dallas weather.  Enjoy your weekend and stay warm!
