More stripes

With all the house madness going on over the past several months, I haven't exactly been the picture of health.  Eating out became a way of life simply because we were too exhausted to cook and couldn't make it to the grocery store.  Since moving, things have gotten to about 70% normal, but things aren't fitting me the same.  I wanted something super easy and comfy to just throw on and not feel like a stuffed sausage.  That's where this awesome tank dress from Target came in.  Not only was the price tag perfect, but it has a little style with the longer hem in back.  I've worn it about 30 times in the past two weeks, even getting a raised eyebrow when I wore it to bed a couple nights ago.

Getting back into shape is going to be tough, especially in the middle of bikini season.  I've already thrown in the literal towel for this year, but hopefully by next year, I will be back to feeling good again.  I've joined a new gym since moving, which I absolutely love, and just need to make better choices with portion control and what I eat.  I'm not one of those naturally thin girls, I definitely have to work at it, and since I turned 30, it's become about 50% more difficult.  How do you guys do it????

Christmas Break (literally)

Hi friends!  Happy New Years Eve!  I'm sorry for being MIA the past week or so, but my camera lens kicked the bucket.  Because of the holiday, my lens is out of stock everywhere and I've been waiting for it to become available again.  Trust me, though, y'all haven't missed a damn thing unless you are interested in seeing me in my pajamas with dirty hair for a week straight!  I did manage to get some photos with my zoom lens on the one day I ventured out of the house.  Things will be back to normal soon!

Have a safe and fun NYE!

Close to the Vest

Hey loves!  How was your weekend?  Mine was spent running between Christmas and birthday parties and celebrating our victory in the Heisman race.  Needless to say, Saturday was a lot of fun, but I definitely paid for it all day yesterday.   I may have eaten fast food twice and I also may have taken three to four naps...

Back to it!  Happy Monday!

Dust Bunny

I think I've told y'all before, but I purchased a home back in May that needs quite a bit of work in just about every aspect.  I decided that I wanted to tackle the kitchen this weekend, so pulling down cabinets and removing those awful drywall soffits from above was first on the agenda.  I won't bore you with the details, but I will say that a baseball bat may or may not have been used in the destruction. Regardless, I am so thrilled that the kitchen is more open and my plan is to tile the entire wall and add open shelving.  That's a few weeks out though, for sure.

Before

After

Not much of an improvement, but it will look pretty freakin' sweet, pretty freakin' soon!

So, after a full weekend of being covered in drywall dust and other bits of dirt and grime, I was very happy to girl it up with a spray tan and a un skirt.  This is one of my boutique finds from a few months back and, as cute as it is, I've only worn it once before.  Do you ever buy something that you fall in loe with and style ten thousand outfits around and then neglect to wear it?  ugh.

Guest Posting for Eileen at A Creative Day

I am incredibly delighted, not to mention honored to have the opportunity to guest post for Eileen and the lovely readers of A Creative Day! Eileen is blessed with an amazing aesthetic for both interiors and fashion.  A Creative Day is one of the few places that I can always depend on for inspiration, great style, and great perspective.  We thought it would be fun to put together an outfit for a favorite holiday outing: picking out a Christmas tree.  This is always one of my very favorite events of the holiday season so I always give it the credit it deserves with fabulous, yet affordable and cozy style. Enjoy!

June Bug

First thing's first: Yesterday was a rough day for North Texas, as tornadoes ripped through, devastating several communities.  The damage is unimaginable, but by some miracle, no one was hurt.  Our prayers are with all the families that have lost their homes.

I've been trying to find the Zara simple sandal in my size for several weeks with no luck, so when I saw these B Brian Atwood heels I couldn't resist.  They are made from some type of iridescent material that changes colors with the light and reminds me of the huge junebugs I caught as a kid.  They are super comfy and at $79.99 were only $30 more than the Zara heels.  Total score.

On the same trip, I found these adorable Kate Spade trousers and immediately fell in love with the fit.  I have a tough time fitting pants, as I've mentioned before, so these were a guaranteed purchase for me.  I love how they looked with the knockout roses in the background which are blooming out of control now.  They are gorgeous and make me happy every time I look in the back yard.
