A Little Geometry

I hope everyone had a lovely Fourth of July!  Since we live in a new 'hood, we attended the parade early in the morning with some friends, complete with mimosas and some fabulous egg muffins.  After that, we spent the day in the pool with friends who live a couple blocks from us.  I was done and in bed at about 5pm and woke up 14 hours later. I was exhausted evidently!

The boys are playing golf today, so I plan to do some things around the house, work on some new posts, and sneak off to the mall for a few minutes.  I went to Francesca's last week when I traveled to College Station for business, and found several super cute pieces with a boutique feel.  I'm not sure if Francesca's is nationwide, but if it is, you should check it out.  Bright, colorful pieces, with great price tags is what I'm talking about.

One of the several items that I had piled up in my dressing room that made the cut was this cute geometric print skirt.  I love the way it fits, and although you can't see it, it has a cute zipper all the way down the back.

Top: Ann Taylor Crepe Scallop Hem Top, sold old, similar
Skirt: Francesca's in store, but here is a cute alternative
Bag: Marc Jacobs Ursula Quilter Bowler, old, budget friendly option

Tag Team Back Again

Check it, direct it, lets begin!  Y'all know you love you some Whoomp There It Is, don't play.  That's the exact song that popped into my head as I purchased my replacement camera lens yesterday.  So, I'm back in full effect.  Okay, enough old school rap.  What new with y'all?

I've been crazy busy working on my house and trying to come up with some new outfits for the blog, but it's tough getting dressed during winter time.  I find myself wanting to wear the same old thing, over and over.  I just want to be warm.  For those of you who are outside of Texas who think I'm being a huge baby, let me tell you, it gets cold here.  Not frozen tundra cold, but pretty damn cold, and we have been on a streak of 30 degree weather for a good couple weeks now.  The dogs don't even want to go outside and it's tough getting me out there, I'll be honest.

I was brave enough today to wear tights instead of pants to the office.  I'm not really into tights.  They aren't the most comfortable things in the world, but for a girl who loves to wear skirts and dresses year round, they are sometimes a necessary evil.

Anyways, I'm happy to be back and will try my hardest to get some good cold weather outfits to you in the coming weeks.

Guest Posting for Eileen at A Creative Day

I am incredibly delighted, not to mention honored to have the opportunity to guest post for Eileen and the lovely readers of A Creative Day! Eileen is blessed with an amazing aesthetic for both interiors and fashion.  A Creative Day is one of the few places that I can always depend on for inspiration, great style, and great perspective.  We thought it would be fun to put together an outfit for a favorite holiday outing: picking out a Christmas tree.  This is always one of my very favorite events of the holiday season so I always give it the credit it deserves with fabulous, yet affordable and cozy style. Enjoy!

Lots of Layers

We came back from Louisiana to find some chilly weather here in Dallas, so you can imagine my excitement of opening up my coat closet for the first time this year.  It's been getting rather cold here overnight, but still in the low eighties during the day, so layers are a must.  I wore this to work yesterday and let's just say that I got my fair share of strange looks for my new Zara Leopard High-Heel Sandals.  Aren't they the bomb.com?  Good Lord, I almost passed out when I saw them last week.  They almost had an angelic glow around them, beckoning me to try them on and of course they fit like a glove.

I wanted to thank you guys for the feedback on what you would like to see on the blog.  I don't want y'all to get bored and definitely want to give you improved content, so it was very helpful to hear your suggestions.

A Quickie

Not too many photos in this shoot turned out great, but I still wanted to brag about my $14.99 sale rack blouse from Zara.  This print showed up on several of my favorite blogs in springtime and I just had to have it.  The colors are so vibrant and I love the way it looks like a late 1960's illustration.  It's a great work option with different colors of pants and skirts, looks great with other patterns like stripes and polka dots, and it will be a great pop underneath a sweater as the weather cools down.

What versatile pieces are you loving right now?

I'm linked up to Friday's Fancies, not because my outfit looks like any dessert in particular, but because I like ice cream.  And I like AV and her rockstar blog.  That's all folks!

Peacock Paisley

Hey y'all!  I hope you're having a fabulous week so far!  Up until Sunday, I'd been lost in a sea of moving boxes, walking past the mess with blinders on and falling into bed every night.  Did you know that if you ignore things they don't simply go away?  Me neither.  My bestie came over on Sunday morning and literally didn't leave until every box was unpacked and every corner was cleaned.  How's that for friendship? Seriously, she was a Godsend and I really needed someone to bring me back to reality.  It didn't hurt that she brought me a little present: this beautiful silk top that I just adore.

I'm really thinking that yellow is my new neutral.  It goes with everything, and bonus! It makes me happy when I wear it.  Are y'all feeling the yellow trend?

I'm also sporting quite a bit of birthday loot including new pumps from mama, and my West Avenue  monogram necklace from the man.  I've been pining over it forever and haven't taken it off since he told me to close my eyes and snuck behind me to put it on.  Melt!
