Chin Up, Buttercup

So, I have a new found respect for actual models after my foray into the country on Sunday.  I packed my car full of clothes, my tripod, and my camera and took off to find some bluebonnets.  Our state flower is the most incredible color of blue and usually covers the sides of the highway if you drive out of town a bit.  I didn't find any bluebonnets but I did find these pretty yellow flowers out on a road behind the tractor supply.  I was running back and forth across the road in heels while guys in trucks honked their horns.  Eventually, a nice policeman stopped to ask me if I needed help, and then a second, not so nice one asked me for my license and registration.  Whoopsie.  Anyways, after a couple hours of acting like Karlie Kloss in the wild, I was parched and exhausted.  It was a tough day, really, but I had so much fun playing dress-up in the woods!

June Bug

First thing's first: Yesterday was a rough day for North Texas, as tornadoes ripped through, devastating several communities.  The damage is unimaginable, but by some miracle, no one was hurt.  Our prayers are with all the families that have lost their homes.

I've been trying to find the Zara simple sandal in my size for several weeks with no luck, so when I saw these B Brian Atwood heels I couldn't resist.  They are made from some type of iridescent material that changes colors with the light and reminds me of the huge junebugs I caught as a kid.  They are super comfy and at $79.99 were only $30 more than the Zara heels.  Total score.

On the same trip, I found these adorable Kate Spade trousers and immediately fell in love with the fit.  I have a tough time fitting pants, as I've mentioned before, so these were a guaranteed purchase for me.  I love how they looked with the knockout roses in the background which are blooming out of control now.  They are gorgeous and make me happy every time I look in the back yard.

Ultra Violet

This weekend, we had the honor of attending the Symphony League Ball which also served as the debut for several impressive and gorgeous young ladies. I was, of course, rushing around the morning of the event, trying to find a dress.  The racks are full of juniors style prom dresses since that season is on the horizon and there was a major lack of appropriate dresses. I ended up choosing a simple BCBG gown, albeit three sizes too big, with a chain halter neck, which required simple accessories, and long, loose waves. Do you guys have an special events coming up?

Thrift of the Week: Styled

As promised, here is the Thrift of the Week styled casually for the office.  It's quite a fussy skirt simply because, over the years, the lining has come apart from the rest of the garnet and it kept twisting the seams around.  Err... I was yanking at it all day long.  Easy fix, though!  This skirt has a gorgeous sheen to it and I can wait to pair it with something sassy for night.  A leather jacket?  Crisp blazer?  What would y'all put it with?  Suggestions, please!

Skirt: Valentino vintage (thrifted)
Shoes: Nine West (I got these for $50, but check out the real deal at $950!  STEAL)
Belt: NY&Co.
Bracelets: Vintage Hermes, Juicy Couture
