Alleyway

When my mom moved out of state, our agreement was that we wouldn't go more than 6 weeks without seeing one another, so she is back here visiting me for the week.  I've been wanting to take pics in my alleyway (glamourous, I know) but I was afraid one of the neighbors would run over me and crush my tripod in a rush to get to work.  For old times sake, Mom was sweet enough to take my photos today and I loved the way they turned out.  She makes a great photographer!

Bank or bargain?

When the crisp weather take over Texas in the last months of the year, I rejoice because I get to break into my blazer arsenal.  I'm a sucker for a blazer, kids.  It's pathetic.  I pick them up everywhere I go.  I just love the tailored look they bring to any outfit and are great for the office, date night, or running errands.  It's like you don't have to make any effort as long as you are wearing a chic blazer and pretty lipstick.

I had been eyeing the J.Crew Tipped Hacking Jacket in Double Serge Wool and had almost talked myself into it's $298 pricetag when my bestie pointed out a fabulous alternative at Target, the Merona Women's Tailored Blazer w/ Binding.  It's not the same quality, obviously, but it has a ton of detail for a $35 jacket.  I love the pop of fuschia under the lapel and the seek sucker printed lining is adorable when the sleeves are popped.  I also bought it in Blackwatch plaid and can't wait to show that one off!  God, I go crazy for a deal!

Double Dutch

I'm often quite aimless in the morning when I am getting dressed for work and this day was no exception.  I put several items together and finally settled on this look that reminds me of a Ralph Lauren Christmas campaign.  I've always loved the look of doubling up button downs, but I've never really done it because I felt a bit frumpy.  The great thing about these J.Crew Perfect Shirts is that they are pretty thin and are generally issued in complimentary prints.  As you saw here, I'm into pairing leopard with a tartan plaid, and when paired with a skinny pant, it tones everything down a bit.

Headed North

My best friend and I hopped on a plane today and headed to Columbus, Ohio to visit my mother.  We left ninety degree record temperatures in Dallas.  So crazy for the first day of November!  We got off the plane and it was forty here, so I'm glad that I packed nothing but sweaters and boots.  The leaves here have already turned and the Buckeyes are loud and proud.  We have planned a quick weekend of outlet shopping and thrifting/consignment shopping, along with a visit to the Annie Leibovitz exhibit at Ohio State.  Looking forward to sharing our adventures with you guys before we head back on Sunday.

Lots of Layers

We came back from Louisiana to find some chilly weather here in Dallas, so you can imagine my excitement of opening up my coat closet for the first time this year.  It's been getting rather cold here overnight, but still in the low eighties during the day, so layers are a must.  I wore this to work yesterday and let's just say that I got my fair share of strange looks for my new Zara Leopard High-Heel Sandals.  Aren't they the bomb.com?  Good Lord, I almost passed out when I saw them last week.  They almost had an angelic glow around them, beckoning me to try them on and of course they fit like a glove.

I wanted to thank you guys for the feedback on what you would like to see on the blog.  I don't want y'all to get bored and definitely want to give you improved content, so it was very helpful to hear your suggestions.

Ragin' Cajun

I'm currently in south Louisiana for a wedding and am enjoying some wonderful southern hospitality.  This is my first trip to Cajun Country (minus a couple trips to New Orleans in college) and I am loving the accents, the food, and the weather!  I snapped these photos before I hopped on the plane yesterday.  A cold front blew into Dallas and I was so thrilled to be wearing boots and a sweater.  I obviously am still loving my maroon skinnies that I got a couple weeks ago that you last saw here.  They are so soft and comfy and I am so glad that I didn't ruin them when I accidentally left them in the dryer.  They didn't even shrink.

I wanted to get y'alls advice and input on what you'd like to see more of on the blog.  I have a couple things in mind, but I'm not quite the best judge of an audience.  I don't want things to get boring around here, so let me know what you want!  I'm open to anything.

Off to the wedding!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)
