Random Chanel Item

Sue of the incredible blog, The Zhush, features a random Chanel item weekly on her blog and this week she chose one that I had sent to her.  I was driving around in a very questionable area trying to find a client's office a few weeks back when I spotted this fabulous punch buggy emblazoned with interlocking CC's.  What you don't see are the group of thugs staring me down as I'm hanging out the window trying to snap a pic on my iPhone.  As soon as I saw this display of fashion and homage to Coco, I knew it was going straight to Sue's inbox.  If you haven't already, which I will find hard to believe, please visit The Zhush for a boatload of gorgeous interiors and inspirational images.

Sold!

I finally closed on my new (old) home yesterday and I am so thrilled that it's finally mine.  I've got some maaaaaaaajor work to do and I look forward to sharing it with everyone on the blog in the coming months.  I wore my very favorite dress from Zara S/S10 and all my usual accessories.  Had to look cute for the closing.  Hope everyone has a fabulous Friday!

Dallas Arboretum

This past Friday afternoon, Mom and I enjoyed a picnic and a bottle of pinot at the Dallas Arboretum.  In honor of the first day of spring, here are some pics from our day.  Enjoy the tulips :)

Everything's waiting for you..... Downtown!

Though we've lived in McKinney, nearly five years, I've never spent an entire day to exploring the downtown square.  The weather was absolutely glorious yesterday, so Mom and I decided to dedicate the entire day to digging through the numerous antique stores on the square.

There are lots of antique shops, design stores, art galleries, restaurants, pubs.... just about anything you can imagine.  Prepare for tons of pics.  These were a few of my favorite things:

These Moroccan lanterns were stunning.  The photos don't do them justice because of the light, but I thought they were absolutely gorgeous.  I would love to have them hanging in an outside space, under an arbor.  This particular shop, called Another Time and Place, had endless amounts of kilms, pashminas, and other textiles that were pretty just stacked on the floor.  I know where my next rug purchase will be!

We saw chandeliers galore!  In nearly every shop hangs some type of gorgeous fixture.  My favorite was the second one, with the blue and white porcelain.  I'd never seen one of these and may just have to have it.

Lots of this type of art, which I certainly have a weakness for.  The first one just makes me melt and may just be a little inspiration for a DIY.  Would be so cute in a nursery.

These were all little odds and ends that I thought were adorable.  The first few photos are from a shop called Smitten that is my absolute favorite on the square.  All very vintage and country.  The teacups and the owl were from the antique mall and the suzani table runner was so thick and beautiful.  The very best thing I saw, though, was the pink cuff link box full of men's vintage cuff links.  I wanted to buy every single pair!

I almost fell out in the floor when we walked into Gather by Karen Klassen, an upscale tea room, design shop, and event hall.  There wasn't a single thing in this space that wasn't just drop dead.  The way the original exposed brick flows with the decor is perfect.

Despite the fact that the cupcake store was closed by the time we were finished, we had a perfect day in the square.  I'll show you how we're making up for that tomorrow.  Thanks for bearing with me through my absense from the blog.  Hopefully, I will have some really exciting news to share soon :)

Sundays...

This time of year, Sundays are my favorite days of the week.  Famous and I spent the day out and about, enjoying the beautiful weather and people watching at the park.  She's passed out on the back of the couch now....  Hope you are having a Sunday as lovely as mine!

Lord, help us...

Most houses have history, no matter how old or young, big or small, and the Greywalls house is no exception.  For the past couple days, we've had neighbors stopping by to give us the 411 on the crazies that lived in the house before, and now that we know the past, the inside of the house makes a little more sense. 

Evidently, a little old lady lived there once upon a time and planted a beautiful English garden.  She was an eccentric and collected antiques, like any little old lady should. Sadly, she passed away from cancer and her children took over the home, letting it go into disrepair. That is the nice version.  There is another version, but I am still presently conducting interviews.  I'll have to keep you up to date as the investigation goes on.

With that being said, that little old lady had very poor decorating taste, bless her sweet little heart.  Every inch of the flooring is covered pink tile that I have aptly named "Ten Year Old Pepto No.5".  There is not a piece of carpet or hardwood flooring to be found. 

And allegedly, there was quite a bit of horn tooting about the "$40,000 worth of drapes".  Perhaps they were purchased from Victoria Gotti's foreclosure a few years back?  Yikes...

My spray tan suddenly feels a little too dark.

This is just a tiny taste of the gobs and gobs of fabric that are holding the light hostage.  Every single window in the house has some sort of nauseating drape hanging above it and you can take your pic from the adornments, ranging from pearls to crystals. I call this style Mausoleum Chic.

Isn't it great how the green knobs match the green drapes? And last but not least, these funeral home-esque light fixtures really bring it all together.

I'm exhausted from just looking at these photos!
