3.1 Phillip Lim for Target

Hi loves!  I hope you had a fantastic Monday.  Mine started off a little slow and lethargic because I couldn't get my lazy butt up and to the gym.  Hate when I do that!  And I woke up in time, too.  I just laid there and thought about going but I never actually raised me head off the pillow.  I didn't find time throughout the day (sometimes I can sneak out at lunchtime) and I didn't want to go when I got home, because that's the only time me and my boo get to see one another during the week.  I did find time to snap a few pics in one of the super cute skirts I got from the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Capsule Collection.  Like I mentioned yesterday, I was super impressed with the quality and fit.  Instead of working out at lunch, I snuck over to Target see if maybe, just maybe, they had one of the bags left.  And they did, so my muscles aren't mad at me anymore!

What did you guys get??

Wedges: Ann Taylor (old) super similar, less platform-y
Bag: Marc Jacobs Ursula Quilted Patent Bowler (old) updated version

Wild One

I was totally stoked when J.Crew Factory came out with a dress in the wildcat print.  I missed it at retail and kicked myself for not making the purchase when I could.  I had this exact outfit in mind: print dress, tartan plaid button down underneath.  The shirt that I had in mind was nowhere to be found, but I found this men's extra small hanging out all by it's lonesome on the sale rack.  $15, don't mind if I do.

I do this rather often... Get an outfit idea stuck in my head only to get frustrated because I can't find the exact pieces I want.  I actually woke up this morning with an outfit idea, but, thank goodness, I have all three pieces.  Guess you'll be seeing that soon!

Also, a shout out to my best friend, whose psychoses and neuroses got me this bag for my birthday.  This crazy B had overheard me saying that I had missed the boat on the Eat Cake for Breakfast bag and wished that I would have bought one.  She called each and every Kate Spade boutique in the country, even after the first twelve told her there were no bags left in the computer, and her last call found this puppy somewhere in the wild blue yonder.  That is dedication, folks.

I also wanted to mention how much you guys mean to me.  I've had an outpouring of emails, comments, questions, etc. in the past couple weeks and am definitely feeling the love.  It certainly keeps me going creatively and emotionally, because, those of us who blog know how emotional it can be.  It's like having a second relationship (if you are in one), or a high maintenance boyfriend, but it's totally worth it.

A Zara Moment

I went to Zara yesterday in hopes of finding the gorgeous camp jacket that has been popping up all over the blogosphere.  To my dismay, I should have snapped it up last week when I saw it, because it was long gone.  I had to settle for camo cargo pants (can we say awesome!?!) and another blogger favorite, the TRF Peplum Jacket ( I know, I know).  Luckily, I made it out of there without blowing my wad, but I accidentally stumbled into Lululemon and fell completely apart.  Whoopsie...

What do y'all think about the camo trend?  Love it? Hate it? Reserved only for our Armed Forces and Duck Dynasty?

Jacket: Zara
Pants: Zara not online, but these are similar at Zara
Tee: F21, old, but this one would look precious
Necklace: West Avenue via Max and Chloe
Bracelets: vintage Hermes, F21, J.Crew

Have a great couple more days before the weekend ;)

Kate must have a tiny...

I watched waaaaaaaay to much Sex and the City when I was in college, and I still watch it on Style to this day.  It never gets old to me and I have nearly every episode memorized.  On a daily basis, something happens, or somebody says something, or I see something that reminds me of a situation from the show.  Today was no different.  I had a business meeting this morning, so I was dressed for work.  Unfortunately, I also had my annual OBGYN appointment in the afternoon, so I showed up to the gyno looking fab in my Louby's and my Kate Spade skirt.  I was literally on the table, and the episode where the girls are talking about having their times of the month, Samantha being left out, of course, popped into my head.

Charlotte: Do you have another?
Carrie: Ladies, I am not Tampax central. Put on list: buy tampons.
Charlotte: Well, I have them at home but they won't fit in my Kate Spade purse.
Miranda: Wow—Kate must have a tiny vagina.

Seriously, it never gets old.

So, on to the outfit.  I completely died when my mom picked this up at Goodwill on a trip there last fall.  I screamed.  LOUD.  I knew it was Kate Spade because I had tried this exact skirt on at Nordstrom the year before, but couldn't justify spending the $199.  This was my lucky day and I even had help digging through the racks that day.  It was meant to be.  $2.99 friends.  I will have to say that the tweed had been completely frizzed out.  I don't know how else to put it.  Kind of like when a sweater pills, ya know?  It looks like a beautiful chia pet.  I put mom to work on it and she made it good as new. She was also sweet enough to let me babysit her Tory clutch for a few weeks.

Skirt: Kate Spade Kylie Tweed Skirt, thrifted, great option from Ann Taylor
Top: New York & Co, very similar at Urban Outfitters
Bag: Tory Burch Ainsley Logo Clutch (no longer avail, but I love this color for fall!)
Necklaces: J.Crew, West Avenue via Max & Chloe
Ring: F21 (old, but love these for $4.80)
Bracelets: vintage Hermes, J.Crew, F21

Can you tell I've committed to fall with the dark nails?

Staple

My number one go-to staple for just about every wardrobe situation is an off-white silk blouse.  It makes any outfit look effortless and chic, and since I prefer mine to be a size too big, it's always comfortable for days when I don't feel like being buttoned up all day.  I have a couple that I rotate between, which you've seen here on the blog several times.  One is a button down with pockets and no collar from NY&Co. and the other is a very lightweight cotton button down with a collar from Old Navy.  Bottom line, they were both less than $10 and through wear and tear are completely shot to shit.

Although I couldn't justify spending $200+ on a great silk shirt by Equipment or Joie, I did find this gorgeous option at Zara for $59.99.  It has a lightweight fabric that you can't see through and the stud detail gives it a little shine.  I am completely in love with it and am glad to have a replacement for the other two.  I'll move them into my layering rotation and probably wear them until they turn into threads.

What is your go-to wardrobe item?

Blouse: Zara in black but white avail. in stores
Denim: J Brand

Thrift of the Week : Three Way

In searching for odds and ends for the bedroom I was, of course, stopping by every thrift store from here to Oklahoma.  Not to ignore the treasures that may be buried in the dress aisle, I sniffed out this little beauty for $3.99.  The color is great and the cowl neck allows me to wear it three ways: asymmetric, off shoulder, and with a cowl collar.  How great is that?

Dress: Express (thrifted)
Belt: J.Crew
Wedges: Steve Madden
Clutch: Target
Glasses: Ann Taylor
Necklaces: J.Crew, West Avenue
Bracelets: vintage Hermes, J.Crew, Kate Spade

Have y'all found anything in the junk lately?
